While not strictly Halloween related, Your Humble Host believes there is something eerie and unsettling about Allegro non Troppo, a 1976 Italian film that mixes animation and live action. It reaches its apogee of spooky weirdness with a sequence arising from Ravel's Bolero. In another context, this musical piece has a certain luxurious sensuality that equates with lovemaking; here, though, the implied lovemaking becomes the driving force behind the rich diversity of life - which almost inevitably includes its own undoing. Watch, now, as life, in all its unyielding relentlessness, marches its way to its own doom.
I've read about this film for years but have never seen it. This is as unsettling as advertised!
