While not strictly Halloween related, Your Humble Host believes there is something eerie and unsettling about Allegro non Troppo, a 1976 Italian film that mixes animation and live action. It reaches its apogee of spooky weirdness with a sequence arising from Ravel's Bolero. In another context, this musical piece has a certain luxurious sensuality that equates with lovemaking; here, though, the implied lovemaking becomes the driving force behind the rich diversity of life - which almost inevitably includes its own undoing.
